Arrival & Dismissal Procedures
Recommendations for Student Arrival and Dismissal
- If bus transportation is available for your child, please take advantage of this privilege. Riding the school bus will ensure your child arrives and departs E.M. Baker on time.
- If you drop your child off in the morning, only passenger side doors are to be open for children to exit the vehicle. Parents and children must never open drive-side doors while in the bus circle. Parking is not permitted at any time in the bus circle. There are 7 total designated areas in the bus circle for "drop off" purposes only.
Dismissal Procedures
There will be no student pick-up or visitor entry into the building after 2:50 PM due to our building-wide dismissal procedures, and the District’s new school building visitor management procedures. Entry into the building will resume at 3:35 PM once we have safely dismissed all students to the school buses.
If your child is designated as a “walker,” parents/guardians responsible for pick-up should arrive at the exterior grade-level specific “walker pick-up area” outside of the main entrance by 2:55 PM.
Any changes to your child’s regular dismissal plan must be submitted in writing. Please send a note with your child detailing your desired change. For example, if your child typically rides the school bus, but you would like him or her to be dismissed as a walker on a given day, please indicate that in writing with your signature. Changes to a child’s dismissal plan are not permitted over the telephone or by e-mail.
Please understand that students picked up prior to 2:50 PM will be marked as an “early release” for attendance and reporting purposes.
